Job Overview

Letterkenny University Hospital is seeking a motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate (cCNS) in Diabetes to join its specialist nursing team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop advanced clinical expertise while contributing to high-quality patient care in a dynamic acute hospital setting. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support patients with diabetes and progress toward full CNS status.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist nursing care to patients with diabetes across inpatient and outpatient settings
Support the implementation of evidence-based diabetes management practices
Assist in patient education, promoting self-management and lifestyle interventions
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care delivery
Participate in clinical audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives
Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service development
Support the advancement toward Clinical Nurse Specialist competencies

Required Skills & Qualifications

Registered General Nurse with active registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
Demonstrated interest or experience in diabetes care
Strong clinical, communication, and organisational skills
Commitment to continuous professional development
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable: Postgraduate qualification or training in diabetes or related field

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary scale: €57,208 – €67,372 per annum (aligned with HSE pay scales).
Permanent Wholetime position.
