Galway University Hospitals are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) to join the Rapid Access Lung (RAL) Department. This is a specified purpose, whole-time role (37.5 hours) focused on specialist lung cancer care within a multidisciplinary setting. Key Responsibilities
• Deliver specialist nursing care to patients within the Rapid Access Lung service
• Demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in lung cancer assessment and management
• Coordinate care pathways in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Support diagnostic and treatment processes, including nurse prescribing where qualified
• Provide education and support to patients and families
• Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reporting
• Contribute to education and mentorship of nursing staff
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a General Nurse on the NMBI register
• Depth and breadth of nursing experience in lung cancer care
• Eligible for or willing to undertake the Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate
• Eligible for or willing to undertake the Nurse Prescribing of Ionising Radiation Certificate
• Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team

• Salary: In line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (August 2025)
• Contract: Specified Purpose, Whole-time
