The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate in Diabetes to join the team at Galway University Hospital. This permanent wholetime role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse to progress into a specialist career path within diabetes care. Working within the HSE West and North West region, the successful candidate will provide advanced nursing support to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred specialist diabetes nursing care
• Support the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients with diabetes
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across Galway University Hospitals
• Provide clinical leadership, education, and support to patients, families, and colleagues
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives and evidence-based clinical practice
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with HSE standards and policies
• Participate in audit, research, and professional development activities

Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered General Nurse with NMBI
• Evidence of continued professional development in diabetes or related clinical specialty
• Minimum post-registration nursing experience (as per HSE candidate CNS requirements)
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient-education abilities
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and specialist training

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate (General) – HSE Grade 2697
• Permanent, wholetime contract
• Full HSE benefits including pension, leave entitlements, and professional development supports
• Salary scale in line with current HSE pay agreements
