Job Overview
This Clinical Nurse Specialist (General) – Haematology role at Galway University Hospitals offers an advanced clinical opportunity within specialist Haematology/Oncology services, including apheresis. You will deliver expert patient-centred care, contribute to service development, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary cancer services team.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide advanced nursing care within Haematology/Oncology, including apheresis services
• Act as a clinical expert and resource for patients, families, and staff
• Lead and support evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in education, training, and clinical audit activities
• Collaborate closely with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals
• Contribute to service planning and specialist pathway development
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered Nurse on the active NMBI register
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Haematology/Oncology nursing, including apheresis
• Have undertaken or agree to undertake the Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate within an agreed timeframe
• Have undertaken or agree to undertake the Nurse Prescribing of Ionising Radiation Certificate within an agreed timeframe
• Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
