This Clinical Nurse Specialist Intellectual Disability role offers a permanent, whole-time opportunity within the Evaluation & Intensive Support Team (EIST), based primarily in Bray, County Wicklow, with a secondary location in Tallaght, Dublin 24. The post sits within HSE Dublin South & Wicklow and plays a pivotal role in supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and complex needs across community services.

This is a senior specialist nursing role focused on clinical leadership, service development, and evidence-based practice within evolving intellectual disability services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist clinical expertise to individuals with intellectual disabilities, including complex health needs, dual diagnoses, and behavioural challenges
• Deliver evidence-based interventions, health promotion, and advocacy within community-based services
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and mentorship to nursing and multidisciplinary team members
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of best-practice guidelines
• Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team aligned to Southside Intellectual Disability Services and Adult Community Disability Services
• Support the strategic development of intellectual disability health and wellbeing services within the Regional Health Area

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (Intellectual Disability) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Eligible for appointment to Clinical Nurse Specialist (Intellectual Disability) grade (Grade 2627)
• Demonstrated specialist knowledge in intellectual disability nursing and complex care
• Proven experience in clinical leadership, supervision, and team support
• Strong understanding of evidence-based practice, health promotion, and service user advocacy
• Experience in service development and quality improvement within healthcare or disability services

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Salary scale: €61,463 – €77,666 per annum (Clinical Nurse Specialist Intellectual Disability, Grade 2627, HSE consolidated pay scales effective 1 August 2025)
• Contract type: Permanent, whole-time
• Working hours: Full-time hours in line with HSE nursing contracts
