Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Mental Health Kerry role offers an excellent opportunity to join Adult Mental Health Services within HSE South West. This permanent wholetime position focuses on Suicide Crisis Assessment Nurse (SCAN) services, delivering specialist assessment, intervention, and support to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team across Cork and Kerry, providing expert clinical leadership, promoting best practice, and ensuring high standards of patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- • Conduct comprehensive suicide risk and mental health assessments within Adult Mental Health Services
- • Deliver timely crisis intervention and short-term therapeutic support
- • Develop and implement person-centred care plans in collaboration with service users and families
- • Provide specialist clinical advice and support to nursing and multidisciplinary colleagues
- • Participate in case reviews, clinical audits, and service improvement initiatives
- • Maintain accurate documentation in line with HSE policies and professional standards
- • Promote recovery-focused practice and evidence-based mental health interventions
- • Support education, mentorship, and development within the nursing team
Required Skills & Qualifications
- • Registered as a Psychiatric Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- • Significant post-registration experience in Adult Mental Health Services
- • Demonstrated expertise in suicide risk assessment and crisis intervention
- • Eligibility to work in Ireland
- • Strong communication, clinical decision-making, and leadership skills
- • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- • Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €62,078 – €78,443 (incremental scale including LSI, as applicable)
Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime
