Wexford General Hospital (HSE Dublin and South East) is inviting applications for the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Neurology, Ref: WGH202547. This is a permanent, wholetime HSE post based in Wexford, Ireland. The position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

About the Role
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Neurology, you will provide expert nursing care, leadership, and education in the management of neurological conditions. The role supports clinical excellence and patient-centred care across inpatient and outpatient services, working closely with multidisciplinary teams at Wexford General Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist nursing assessment, treatment, and education to patients with neurological conditions.
- Support clinical decision-making and patient care pathways in collaboration with consultant neurologists.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Lead patient and staff education sessions in line with HSE care standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation and data for clinical audits.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and outreach activities.
- Promote evidence-based nursing practice and continuing professional development.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered General Nurse with An Bord Altranais / NMBI.
- Minimum 5 years’ post-registration experience, including 2 years in neurology or a related specialty.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in Neurology or Neuroscience Nursing.
- Experience in developing and implementing specialist nursing programmes.
- Knowledge of HSE clinical governance and quality frameworks.
What We Offer

- Salary (effective 1 August 2025): €61,463 – €77,666 per annum (11-point scale, LSIs after 3 and 6 years).
