Job Overview
The Clinical Placement Co-ordinator Louth role offers an exciting opportunity to support the development of future nurses and midwives within Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda and Louth Hospitals. This permanent part-time position plays a vital role in ensuring that pre-registration BSc Nursing students achieve their planned clinical experiences and learning outcomes in line with education programme requirements.
Working across general clinical areas, the Clinical Placement Co-ordinator (CPC) will guide and support students from multiple disciplines, contributing directly to safe, high-quality learning environments that enhance patient safety and workforce sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide structured guidance and support to Pre-registration BSc Nursing students during clinical placements.
- Support students across disciplines including General Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Intellectual Disabilities Nursing, Midwifery and Erasmus programmes.
- Assist preceptors and nursing staff in fostering effective learning environments.
- Collaborate with the Nurse Practice Development Co-ordinator (NPDC) in practice development activities.
- Monitor and evaluate clinical learning experiences to ensure alignment with academic programme outcomes.
- Promote patient safety through high standards of clinical supervision and mentorship.
- Contribute to workforce sustainability through effective student support and professional development initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Nurse or Midwife with active registration with the appropriate professional body.
- Relevant clinical experience within acute hospital settings.
- Demonstrated experience in student support, mentorship, or clinical education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to quality improvement and professional development.
- Understanding of patient safety principles and educational frameworks.
