Children’s Health Ireland is seeking an experienced CNM 1 Specialist – Plaster Care Dublin professional to join its specialist paediatric team in Dublin South. Job Overview
The CNM 1 Specialist – Plaster Care will play a key leadership role in the delivery and coordination of specialist plaster and cast services for children and young people. You will ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based care while supporting nursing staff and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Working within Children’s Health Ireland, you will help maintain the highest clinical standards and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage specialist plaster care services within the clinical area
- Provide expert clinical guidance in cast application, removal, and patient education
- Ensure adherence to national clinical standards and infection prevention policies
- Supervise and support nursing staff, promoting best practice and professional development
- Collaborate with orthopaedic, emergency, and multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reporting systems
- Participate in audit, quality improvement initiatives, and risk management processes
- Support service planning and efficient resource utilisation
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience, including relevant specialist experience
• Experience in orthopaedic/plaster care nursing practice
• Management or leadership experience at CNM level desirable
• Evidence of continuous professional development
• Strong communication, organisational, and clinical decision-making skills
• Commitment to patient-centred paediatric care
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (Grade Code 2127) scale under the February 2026 HSE consolidated pay scales .
Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (General) Salary Scale (from 1 February 2026):
€57,208 – €67,372 (8-point scale, plus applicable LSIs)
