St Brendan’s Community Nursing Unit (CNU), Loughrea, Co Galway is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) to join its Older Persons Services team. This permanent whole-time role offers the opportunity to provide strong clinical leadership within a supportive HSE environment. Applicants must demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in Older Persons/Gerontology nursing.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership, clinical guidance and supervision to nursing and healthcare staff
• Ensure high standards of resident care, safety and dignity across Older Persons Services
• Oversee day-to-day ward/department operations and multidisciplinary communication
• Support quality improvement, audit, HIQA compliance, and evidence-based practice
• Participate in staff development, performance management and mentoring
• Contribute to care planning, documentation and risk management processes
• Promote person-centred care and uphold HSE policies and procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with NMBI
• Significant post-registration experience in Older Persons/Gerontology services
• Demonstrated leadership capability within a clinical environment
• Strong communication, organisational and team-building skills
• Ability to support continuous quality improvement and regulatory compliance
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary (CNM1 Grade 2127): €56,642–€66,705 (effective 1 August 2025)
• Contract: Permanent, whole-time
