Job Overview
This Community Staff Nurse role within the Community Intervention Team (CIT) offers an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality nursing care in a dynamic community setting. Based in St Mary’s, Naas, you will play a key role in supporting patients at home and reducing hospital admissions through proactive clinical intervention. This is a rewarding position within a developing service with plans for expansion across surrounding primary care centres.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the community setting
- Support early discharge and hospital avoidance initiatives
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care interventions
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Deliver patient education and promote self-management where appropriate
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
- Adhere to HSE policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines
- Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Demonstrated clinical experience in community or acute settings
- Strong assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Full clean driving licence (desirable due to community-based role)
- Commitment to continuous professional development
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €37,788 – €56,032 (based on HSE Staff Nurse General scale, inclusive of Long Service Increments where applicable).
Working Hours: Full-time, permanent (wholetime) position with potential for part-time roles through panel formation.

Location & Employer Information
This role is based in CIT Kildare West Wicklow, primarily operating from St Mary’s, Naas, Co. Kildare, with service expansion planned across surrounding primary care centres. The role falls under HSE Dublin and Midlands, covering counties Longford, Westmeath, Offaly, Laois, Kildare, and parts of Dublin South and Wicklow. You will be working within a progressive community healthcare environment focused on patient-centred care.
