Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore is seeking a Consultant General Anaesthetist (Ref: MRHTMP2527) to join its acute clinical team on a temporary whole-time contract. This role offers a key opportunity to deliver high-quality anaesthesia care within the HSE Dublin and Midlands Health Region.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive anaesthesia services across theatre, critical care, emergency and perioperative settings
• Deliver safe, evidence-based care aligned with HSE clinical policies and national standards
• Participate in on-call duties as rostered
• Support multidisciplinary collaboration across surgical and medical specialties
• Contribute to quality improvement, audit, teaching and clinical governance activities
• Engage in service development and enhancement of patient pathways
• Supervise and mentor NCHDs and other clinical staff
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered (or eligible for registration) on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council Register in Anaesthesiology
• Extensive post-graduate training and clinical experience in general anaesthesia
• Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in acute settings
• Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and continuous professional development
• Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership capabilities
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary in accordance with the HSE Consolidated Consultant Salary Scales (1 August 2025)
• Specified Purpose Wholetime contract
