An exceptional consultant opportunity is available for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (MHID) within CAMHS HSE South West, based in Cork. This senior post offers the chance to provide highly specialised psychiatric care to children and adolescents with mental health and intellectual disability needs, while contributing to service leadership, clinical governance, and multidisciplinary team development.

This role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is ideal for experienced consultants seeking a meaningful, high-impact leadership position within Ireland’s public mental health services.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children and adolescents with mental health and intellectual disability needs
• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary CAMHS MHID teams
• Deliver evidence-based clinical interventions and care planning
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance
• Supervise and support NCHDs and other clinical staff as required
• Participate in audit, research, teaching, and training activities
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, Mental Health legislation, and best practice standards


Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registration (or eligibility for registration) on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
• Demonstrated expertise in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, including MHID
• Significant consultant-level or equivalent senior experience
• Strong leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary team-working skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland

Salary: In line with HSE Consultant Medical & Dental Payscales (competitive, dependent on experience and point of entry)
Contract Type: Specified Purpose, Wholetime
