Naas General Hospital is seeking a Temporary Consultant Physician in Gastroenterology to join its multidisciplinary medical team. This is a Specified Purpose, whole-time HSE role providing specialist gastroenterology services within the Dublin and Midlands health region. Reporting to the Clinical Director and/or General Manager, the Consultant will deliver high-quality patient care and contribute to service development across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and management of gastroenterology patients
• Deliver inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services, including endoscopy
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance activities
• Contribute to development and improvement of gastroenterology pathways
• Lead and supervise NCHDs and other clinical staff
• Participate in the on-call rota as required
• Ensure safe, effective, patient-centred care aligned with HSE clinical standards
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold professional accountability

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registration on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council in Gastroenterology
• Experience at Consultant level or equivalent in gastroenterology and general medicine
• Proven clinical competence in managing complex gastroenterology presentations
• Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills
• Commitment to audit, research, and continuous professional development
• Eligibility to work within the HSE (open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants)

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• HSE Consultant General Physician Grade 1163 salary (in line with national consolidated pay scales)
• Specified Purpose Contract – Whole-time
• Standard HSE benefits including pension, leave, and professional development supports
• On-call and additional allowances as per HSE policy
