About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist Wexford to provide comprehensive mental health services at MHS Wexford for 37 hours per week. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact in adult psychiatric care while working with a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist clinical assessment and treatment for adult patients with mental health conditions
- Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and coordinate comprehensive care plans
- Deliver consultant-level psychiatric services including diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing care
- Participate in emergency psychiatric assessments and crisis interventions
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees in psychiatric practice
- Collaborate with community mental health teams and external healthcare providers
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Full registration with Irish Medical Council (IMC) with specialist division entry in General Adult Psychiatry
- Fellowship of Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) or equivalent specialist qualification
- Minimum 6 years post-graduate experience in psychiatry with significant adult mental health focus
- Demonstrable expertise in assessment and management of complex psychiatric conditions
- Excellent clinical decision-making skills and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in community mental health service delivery
- Training or experience in specific therapeutic modalities
- Leadership experience in psychiatric services
- Research experience and publications in psychiatry
- Additional qualifications in subspecialty areas of adult psychiatry
