The Consultant Obstetrician Mullingar opportunity at Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar offers a permanent wholetime position within the HSE Dublin and Midlands region. This is a senior leadership role delivering high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care to a diverse patient population.
You will play a central role in advancing women’s health services, contributing to multidisciplinary collaboration, service development, clinical governance, and medical education within a dynamic acute hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological services in line with national standards and best practice.
- Lead and support multidisciplinary clinical teams in delivering safe, patient-centred care.
- Participate in on-call rotas and emergency obstetric services as required.
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and audit activities.
- Supervise, mentor, and support NCHDs and junior medical staff.
- Engage in service planning, development, and strategic initiatives within the hospital and region.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Full registration in the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Significant postgraduate experience in obstetrics and gynaecology at consultant level or equivalent.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capability.
- Proven commitment to clinical excellence, audit, and continuous professional development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
