The Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist (Ref: PSYC5930) for a permanent wholetime post within Mental Health Services Waterford. This senior appointment supports the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care across the HSE Dublin and South East region.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive consultant-led assessments, diagnosis, and treatment for adults with mental health needs.
• Provide clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary Mental Health Services team.
• Contribute to service development initiatives in adult psychiatry and substance misuse pathways.
• Participate in on-call commitments and scheduled clinical sessions.
• Ensure compliance with HSE clinical governance, quality, and patient safety standards.
• Liaise with GPs, primary care, community teams, and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and support audit, research, and teaching.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council for Psychiatry.
• Experience in General Adult Psychiatry, ideally with exposure to substance misuse services.
• Strong clinical decision-making and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and multidisciplinary collaboration abilities.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland and fulfil Consultant appointment criteria.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Permanent wholetime (37 hours per week).
• Salary in line with national Consultant Contract arrangements.
