Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore is seeking a Consultant Rheumatologist & General Physician to join its specialist medical team. This specified-purpose, wholetime post offers an opportunity to lead and enhance rheumatology and acute general medicine services within the HSE Dublin and Midlands region. Reference: MRHTMP2525.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality rheumatology and general internal medicine care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Lead multidisciplinary clinical decision-making and optimise patient management pathways.
• Provide specialist consultation, diagnostics, and treatment for complex rheumatologic conditions.
• Participate in on-call duties as required by service needs.
• Support clinical governance, audit activities, and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to teaching, supervision, and mentorship of medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
• Work collaboratively with hospital leadership to advance service development in rheumatology and general medicine.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on (or eligibility for) the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council Register in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine.
• Extensive clinical experience in rheumatology and acute/general medicine.
• Strong communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional development, research, and clinical audit.
• Ability to provide safe, effective, patient-centred care at consultant level.
