Job Overview
A rewarding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Dietitian to join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Inpatient Unit at Merlin Park, Galway. This Clinical Specialist role focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence-based nutritional care to young people within mental health services. The position offers a chance to contribute meaningfully to multidisciplinary care and service development in a specialist paediatric setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist dietetic assessment and intervention for children and adolescents within CAMHS
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team
  • Develop and implement nutrition care plans tailored to complex clinical needs
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance
  • Provide education and training to staff, patients, and families
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HSE standards
  • Engage in audit, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification in Dietetics with CORU registration (or eligibility)
  • Significant post-qualification experience in paediatrics or CAMHS
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical dietetics at specialist level
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in service development and clinical leadership is desirable

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary scale: €71,405 – €82,860 (incremental scale)
Contract Type: Specified Purpose Wholetime

Location & Employer Information
This position is based in the CAMHS Inpatient Unit at Merlin Park, Galway, within the HSE West and North West region. The service provides specialist mental health care to children and adolescents across Galway, Mayo, and Roscommon. A panel may be formed for future vacancies across the region.
