Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) is recruiting an Electronic Health Record (EHR) Application Analyst/Principal Trainer (Grade V) to support the implementation and optimisation of CHI’s digital health systems. Based at La Touche House in the IFSC, Dublin 1, this Specified Purpose Wholetime role will play a key part in delivering safe, efficient and user-friendly EHR tools for clinical and administrative staff. The post is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is advertised via the HSE on behalf of CHI, a Section 38 publicly funded organisation.

Key Responsibilities
• Configure, test and support EHR applications to meet clinical, operational and administrative requirements across Children’s Health Ireland.
• Act as a principal trainer for EHR end users, designing, delivering and continuously improving classroom, virtual and on-the-job training.
• Develop and maintain high-quality training materials, user guides, quick-reference resources and e-learning content for multidisciplinary staff.
• Support system go-lives, upgrades and optimisation cycles, including floor-walking, at-the-elbow support and post-implementation follow-up.
• Collaborate with clinical, ICT and management stakeholders to capture requirements, map workflows and translate them into safe and effective EHR configurations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, liaising with ICT, vendors and local champions to minimise disruption to patient care.
• Participate in testing activities, including creating and executing test scripts, documenting results and supporting defect resolution.
• Monitor training attendance, user feedback and EHR adoption metrics, recommending targeted interventions to improve system usage and data quality.
• Contribute to governance structures, documentation standards and change control processes related to EHR configuration and training.
• Promote best practice in digital health, information governance, data protection and patient confidentiality in all aspects of system use and training.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Relevant third-level qualification in ICT, health informatics, education/training, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with Electronic Health Records or other large clinical/ICT systems in a healthcare, public sector or similar complex environment.
• Proven experience in delivering training to adult learners, ideally in a healthcare or ICT context (classroom, virtual and/or blended formats).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand clinical workflows and translate them into practical system solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in engaging clinicians, managers, administrative staff and ICT colleagues.
• High level of proficiency in standard office and collaboration tools, with the ability to produce clear, user-focused training and support materials.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and support project milestones.
• Demonstrated commitment to high-quality patient care, information governance and data protection standards.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team in a fast-paced change environment.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary will be aligned with the HSE Grade V (0566) clerical/administrative scale in accordance with the Department of Health consolidated salary scales (1 August 2025).
• Employment type: Specified Purpose Wholetime (full-time, fixed-term).
• Standard public health service leave, pension and other benefits will apply as per the employing organisation’s terms and conditions.
• The role is primarily Monday–Friday, with flexibility required at key project phases (e.g. go-lives, training blocks, system upgrades).
