The Grade VI Suicide Development Officer Waterford role offers an opportunity to lead and support suicide prevention initiatives across HSE Dublin and South East. Based in the Regional Suicide Resource Office at Waterford Residential Care Centre, St Patrick’s Hospital, this permanent whole-time position plays a vital role in strengthening community capacity and delivering impactful training programmes.
This position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is ideal for experienced professionals in community, health, or social care settings who are committed to advancing mental health and suicide prevention strategies at a regional level.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the implementation of regional suicide prevention strategies and initiatives
- Develop and deliver training programmes in mental health, community development, public health, and health promotion
- Work collaboratively across community, voluntary, and public sector stakeholders
- Support community-led responses to social issues affecting vulnerable and marginalised groups
- Contribute to strategic planning and service development within the Regional Suicide Resource Office
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on programme outcomes and regional initiatives
- Promote cross-sectoral engagement to enhance suicide prevention awareness and impact
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Significant experience in community, health, or social care settings
- Proven experience working with marginalised groups and building community capacity
- Demonstrated experience facilitating training and delivering structured programmes
- Strong cross-sectoral collaboration skills with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate community-based initiatives
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- Relevant third-level qualification in health, social care, public health, community development, or related discipline

Location & Employer Information
This role is based in Waterford Residential Care Centre, St Patrick’s Hospital, Waterford, within HSE Dublin and South East, covering Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Waterford, and Wexford.
