Job Overview
The Health Service Executive is seeking applications for the position of Grade VII Unit Manager Galway at the BreastCheck Western Screening Unit in Newcastle Road, Galway. This permanent wholetime post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrative professional to lead and manage operational services within the National Screening Service.
This internal competition is confined to eligible staff currently employed within the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agencies, or other statutory health agencies in line with Workplace Relations Commission Agreement 161867.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and operational management within the BreastCheck Western Screening Unit.
- Oversee administrative, governance, and service delivery functions to ensure efficient unit performance.
- Manage and support administrative staff, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement service improvements where required.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and statutory obligations.
- Coordinate with clinical teams and senior management to support integrated service delivery.
- Contribute to strategic planning and operational reporting within the National Screening Service.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Satisfactory experience in an office within the HSE, TUSLA, a statutory health agency, or a Section 38 organisation at a level not lower than Grade IV (or equivalent).
- Minimum of two years satisfactory experience at a level not lower than Clerical Officer within the HSE, TUSLA, a statutory health agency, or Section 38 organisation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to discharge the duties of a Grade VII Unit Manager.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- High standard of professional suitability and integrity.
- Full competence and capability to undertake the duties of the office.
- Evidence of good character.

- Salary aligned to HSE Grade VII (Code 0582) consolidated pay scale in accordance with Department of Health Circular 1/2025 and February 2026 adjustments.
