Corlann (formerly Brothers of Charity Services) is seeking a Health and Safety Officer Roscommon to join its Roscommon Services team on a permanent wholetime basis. This Grade VI position plays a vital role in promoting a safe, compliant, and proactive safety culture across services within the HSE West and North West region.

Job Overview
The Health and Safety Officer will support and advise management and staff in all aspects of occupational health, safety, and risk management. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies while fostering a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety legislation, policies, and best practice.
- Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety management systems.
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and workplace inspections across services.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Support managers in implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Deliver health and safety training and awareness programmes to staff.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external agencies as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant third-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in a health and safety role, preferably within healthcare or social care.
- Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication, report-writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Full clean driving licence and access to transport (as travel within the county may be required).
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
This role is aligned to Grade VI (0574) under public sector pay policy and is subject to the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025) .
