This Medical Officer Killarney role offers an excellent opportunity to work within Residential and Rehabilitation Services for Older People in HSE South West. Based in Killarney Community Hospital, you will provide essential medical care to older persons in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, with a strong emphasis on rehabilitation, continuity of care, and quality of life.
This is a permanent wholetime HSE position, open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants, offering long-term career stability within community-based healthcare services.
✅ Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive medical care to residents within residential and rehabilitation settings
• Support assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning for older persons
• Work collaboratively with nursing, allied health professionals, and management teams
• Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, clinical guidelines, and statutory requirements
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Contribute to on-call or rostered medical cover as required
🎓 Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the General Division of the Medical Council of Ireland
• Experience in geriatric medicine, rehabilitation, or community healthcare (desirable)
• Strong clinical decision-making and patient-centred care approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
💰 Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary: In line with HSE Medical Officer Grade 1503 salary scales
– Depending on hospital size and rehabilitation bed designation, salaries range approximately from €37,006 to €57,863 per annum (August 2025 consolidated pay scales)
