Job Overview
Galway University Hospitals is seeking an experienced Medical Records Manager (Grade VII) to lead and oversee the effective management of patient records and information systems. This is a key leadership role within the organisation, ensuring compliance, data integrity, and high-quality administrative support across clinical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the management and development of medical records services across the hospital
- Ensure compliance with data protection, confidentiality, and healthcare regulations
- Oversee the accuracy, security, and accessibility of patient records systems
- Manage and support administrative staff within the medical records department
- Drive process improvements and digital transformation initiatives in records management
- Collaborate with clinical and ICT teams to optimise information systems
- Prepare reports, audits, and performance metrics as required
- Ensure best practice standards are maintained across all records management processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant third-level qualification in management, administration, ICT, or healthcare
- Significant experience in medical records, health information systems, or administration
- Strong leadership and team management experience
- Knowledge of healthcare data protection and governance standards
- Excellent organisational, communication, and analytical skills
- Experience working within the HSE or public health sector is highly desirable
- Ability to manage change and lead service improvement initiatives
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €60,613 – €78,795 (including Long Service Increments)
Permanent Wholetime position
