Job Overview
This Senior Occupational Therapist role offers an opportunity to work within a specialised Perinatal Mental Health Multidisciplinary Team at Galway University Hospital. The position focuses on delivering high-quality, recovery-oriented care to adults and older persons experiencing mental health challenges. This is a key role supporting service development and clinical excellence within a progressive mental health service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention within perinatal mental health services
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery
- Develop and implement individualised care plans for service users
- Support service development initiatives and quality improvement projects
- Supervise and support junior staff and students where appropriate
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to professional standards
- Engage with families and carers to support holistic care delivery
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
- Registration with CORU (or eligibility for registration)
- Significant experience working with adults and older persons in mental health services
- Demonstrated expertise in assessment, intervention, and care planning
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a complex caseload
- Commitment to continuous professional development
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary scale: €64,551 – €76,007 per annum (based on experience and HSE pay scales).
Permanent wholetime position with standard HSE working hours. Benefits include public sector pension scheme, annual leave entitlement, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Location & Employer Information
This role is based within the Perinatal Mental Health Multidisciplinary Team at Galway University Hospital, part of the HSE West and North West region. The service provides specialist mental health care across Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, and Galway, offering a supportive and collaborative clinical environment.
