Job Overview
The Staff Grade Occupational Therapist Dublin role (Reference: NFMHSOT2) offers an exciting opportunity to join the National Forensic Mental Health Service in Dublin North. This permanent whole-time position is part of HSE Dublin and North East and is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
You will contribute to specialist forensic mental health services, supporting service users through evidence-based occupational therapy interventions within a multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions within a forensic mental health setting.
- Develop and implement individualised treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to support recovery-focused care.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Participate in risk assessment and management processes.
- Engage in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide education and support to families, carers, and colleagues as appropriate.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with CORU (or eligibility to register).
- Experience working within mental health services (forensic experience desirable).
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.

- Salary aligned with the Occupational Therapist (Grade Code 3298) scale under Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (February 2026).
