Job Overview
The Peer Support Worker HSE Waterford role offers a meaningful opportunity to support individuals experiencing mental health challenges within HSE Dublin and South East. This permanent whole-time position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is based in Waterford.
Working as part of a recovery-focused team, you will use your lived experience and practical knowledge to promote hope, empowerment, and person-centred recovery within mental health services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide peer-led support to individuals accessing mental health services.
- Promote recovery-oriented approaches grounded in lived experience.
- Support the implementation of self-care frameworks and recovery plans.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service user engagement.
- Encourage service users to build resilience, independence, and confidence.
- Contribute to the development of recovery initiatives within the service.
- Maintain accurate records in line with HSE policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all HSE governance, confidentiality, and safeguarding standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience working with individuals with mental health needs.
- Experience implementing self-care frameworks and recovery-focused approaches.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to promoting recovery, empowerment, and inclusion.
- Understanding of HSE policies and service delivery standards.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Grade: Peer Support Worker (Grade Code 6038)
- Starting Salary (Point 1, 1 February 2026 scale): €33,756 per annum
- Salary Scale (1/2/26): €33,756 – €46,013 (including long service increments where applicable)
- Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime
