Job Overview
This Staff Grade Pharmacist role at Mayo University Hospital offers an excellent opportunity to join a progressive hospital pharmacy service within the HSE West and North West region. The post is suitable for pharmacists who can demonstrate a strong depth and breadth of pre- and post-qualification pharmacy experience relevant to acute hospital practice.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, contributing to safe, effective, and patient-centred medicines management in a busy university hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service in line with hospital and HSE policies
• Ensure the safe, effective, and economical use of medicines
• Participate in clinical ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Provide medicines information and advice to medical, nursing, and healthcare staff
• Support medication safety initiatives and quality improvement projects
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians, interns, and students as required
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory and professional standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Qualification recognised for registration as a Pharmacist in Ireland
• Registration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) at application or eligibility to register
• Demonstrable pre- and post-qualification pharmacy experience relevant to the role
• Strong clinical, organisational, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Commitment to continuing professional development

• Salary in line with HSE Pharmacist (Grade 3247) consolidated pay scales
