Job Overview
As a Principal Psychology Specialist, you will provide clinical leadership, professional supervision, and service development across designated care areas including CAMHS (IHA South and West), Primary Care (IHA North and East; IHA Kerry), and Social Inclusion (Cork). You will play a critical role in governance, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
These roles are offered on a Permanent Part-Time, Permanent Whole-Time, or Specified Purpose Whole-Time basis within HSE South West.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide senior clinical leadership within multidisciplinary teams
• Deliver high-quality specialist psychological assessment and intervention
• Lead service planning, evaluation, and development initiatives
• Provide supervision and professional guidance to psychology staff
• Ensure governance, quality assurance, and compliance with national standards
• Contribute to strategic planning within Integrated Health Areas
• Support service innovation and implementation of best practice models
• Engage in audit, research, and continuous professional development
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Postgraduate doctoral qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology accredited by PSI
• Eligibility for registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)
• Significant post-qualification clinical experience, including leadership experience
• Demonstrated expertise in service development and supervision
• Experience working within CAMHS, Primary Care, or Social Inclusion settings
• Strong communication, organisational, and team leadership skills
• Commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is aligned with the Psychologist – Principal Clinical (Grade 3727) scale in accordance with the February 2026 HSE consolidated pay scales . Salary will be based on relevant experience and HSE incremental credit policies.
