The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Principal Social Worker to join the team at St Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinstown, Co Dublin. This permanent wholetime post offers a senior leadership opportunity within Health and Social Care, supporting high-quality patient services across the Dublin South and South East region. Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the Social Work service within St Columcille’s Hospital
• Provide strategic direction, clinical governance and professional supervision
• Ensure high standards of social work assessment, intervention and discharge planning
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the hospital and wider HSE network
• Oversee service development, quality improvement and policy compliance
• Manage staffing, workloads, performance and service reporting
• Represent Social Work at hospital and regional management forums
• Contribute to integrated care initiatives across Health Region Dublin and South East
Required Skills & Qualifications
• CORU registration as a Social Worker
• Significant post-qualification experience, including leadership at senior level
• Demonstrated expertise in hospital-based or acute care social work
• Strong knowledge of HSE structures, governance, safeguarding and statutory obligations
• Excellent interpersonal, supervisory and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary services
• Experience leading service development or quality improvement initiatives
