Job Overview

As a Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) in Critical Care Outreach, you will provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patients at risk of deterioration. The role focuses on early recognition of clinical decline, rapid response interventions, and supporting ward-based teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care across the hospital setting in Cavan.

This role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and offers a permanent wholetime contract within HSE Dublin and North East.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced clinical assessment and management for acutely unwell patients across hospital wards.
  • Lead and deliver critical care outreach interventions to support early recognition of patient deterioration.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient safety and outcomes.
  • Initiate, evaluate, and adjust treatment plans within scope of advanced nursing practice.
  • Support education and training of nursing and medical staff in acute care management.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and research within critical care services.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and professional standards in line with regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registration as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (General) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Extensive post-registration clinical experience in acute and/or critical care settings.
  • Demonstrated competency in advanced clinical assessment, diagnostics, and patient management.
  • Master’s degree (Level 9 NFQ) in Nursing or a relevant healthcare discipline.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and clinical excellence.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Salary Scale: Advanced Nurse Practitioner (General) Grade 2267.
  • Salary Range (from 1 February 2026): €72,122 – €89,004 per annum (pro-rata for part-time if applicable).
