The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Registrar in Palliative Medicine to join the clinical team at University Hospital Limerick. This fixed term wholetime role offers an immediate start and provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality specialist palliative care within the Mid West region. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive palliative medicine services under consultant supervision
• Manage inpatient and outpatient caseloads, including assessment, treatment planning and review
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to support integrated care pathways
• Contribute to on-call rota requirements as scheduled
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation and adherence to HSE policies and standards
• Support the education and development of junior medical staff and students
• Engage in quality improvement, audit and service development initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council
• Experience working at registrar level within palliative medicine or a related specialty
• Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
• Commitment to high standards of patient safety and continuous improvement
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
