Job Overview
Mayo University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Security Officer (Garda Slándála) to join its General Support team. This permanent wholetime position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff across the hospital campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible and proactive security presence throughout the hospital.
- Monitor access points and control entry and exit as required.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms.
- Conduct routine patrols of hospital buildings and grounds.
- Assist in conflict resolution and de-escalation where necessary.
- Support fire safety and emergency procedures in line with hospital policy.
- Complete incident reports and maintain accurate documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience relevant to a security role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in a healthcare or public service environment is desirable.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
This role is aligned with the HSE Security Guard (Grade 4106) consolidated pay scale effective 1 August 2025 in accordance with Department of Health Circular 6/2025 :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}.
