Job Overview
Portiuncula University Hospital is seeking an experienced Senior Cardiac Physiologist Galway (Reference: P3131) to join its dynamic cardiology team on a permanent wholetime basis. This internal opportunity is open to employees of the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agencies, or statutory health agencies in line with WRC Agreement 161867.
This senior-level role offers the opportunity to demonstrate and further develop the depth and breadth of your clinical expertise while contributing to high-quality patient-centred cardiac diagnostic and interventional services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and report on a wide range of non-invasive and invasive cardiac investigations.
- Support cardiology consultants in diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Lead and supervise junior cardiac physiology staff as required.
- Ensure high standards of patient care, safety, and clinical governance.
- Maintain and calibrate specialist cardiac diagnostic equipment.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HSE policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- BSc in Clinical Measurement Science (Cardiac Physiology) or equivalent qualification.
- Eligibility for registration with CORU where applicable.
- Significant post-qualification experience in cardiac physiology.
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience relevant to a senior cardiac physiologist role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary will be in line with the HSE Cardiac Physiologist – Senior (Grade 3003) pay scale.
This is a permanent wholetime position offering access to public sector benefits including pension scheme, annual leave entitlements, and ongoing professional development opportunities. Working hours will be aligned with HSE contractual arrangements.
