Job Overview
LauraLynn Children’s Hospice is seeking a highly experienced Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join its multidisciplinary team in Mallow, Co. Cork. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide specialist psychological services to children with life-limiting conditions and their families, supporting them through complex emotional and clinical needs.
Working within a compassionate and collaborative environment, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality psychological care while contributing to service development and clinical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for children and families
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to individual needs
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support holistic patient care
- Offer consultation and guidance to colleagues and external professionals
- Contribute to service planning, development, and evaluation
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional standards
- Support training, supervision, and development of junior staff where required
- Engage in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Doctorate or equivalent qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
- Registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or equivalent
- Significant post-qualification experience at senior level
- Experience working with children, families, or palliative care settings is highly desirable
- Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to continuous professional development and best practice
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary scale: €99,488 – €116,942 (based on experience and aligned with relevant public sector pay scales, including applicable Long Service Increments).
This is a permanent part-time position offering flexible working arrangements. Benefits may include access to professional development, supportive team environment, and opportunities to contribute to a specialised national service.
Location & Employer Information
This role is based in Mallow, Co. Cork within the HSE South West region. LauraLynn Children’s Hospice is Ireland’s only children’s hospice, providing palliative care and support services for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
As a Section 39 organisation, LauraLynn operates with public funding while maintaining its own terms and conditions of employment.
