Job Overview
The Senior Clinical Engineering Technician Laois role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Clinical Engineering Department at Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise. This specified purpose whole-time post supports the safe management, maintenance, and performance of medical equipment within a busy acute hospital environment.
This position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is part of the HSE Dublin and Midlands region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical support for medical devices and clinical equipment across the hospital.
- Carry out preventative maintenance, calibration, fault diagnosis, and repair of complex medical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, safety requirements, and HSE policies.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation in line with clinical governance requirements.
- Support equipment procurement processes, including technical evaluation and commissioning.
- Provide training and technical guidance to healthcare staff on medical equipment use.
- Participate in risk assessments and contribute to equipment safety reviews.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in the clinical and technical aspects of clinical engineering relevant to the role.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability across a range of medical technologies.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
