Mayo University Hospital is seeking a Senior Clinical Engineering Technician to deliver advanced medical equipment management across a dynamic acute hospital setting. This permanent, whole-time role offers the opportunity to support critical patient-care technologies while contributing to service development within the Clinical Engineering team.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of clinical and diagnostic medical equipment
• Lead and support equipment acceptance, commissioning, calibration, and safety testing
• Provide expert technical advice to clinical staff and departments
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, policies, and manufacturer guidance
• Oversee asset management processes, including lifecycle planning and replacement strategies
• Support incident investigations and risk assessments relating to medical technologies
• Contribute to service improvement, training, and departmental development initiatives
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise equipment performance and patient safety
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Recognised qualification in Clinical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in medical equipment management
• Strong diagnostic, analytical, and fault-finding abilities
• Knowledge of relevant healthcare standards and regulatory requirements
• Proven ability to lead on complex technical issues and support junior staff
• Excellent communication, organisational, and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Grade: Clinical Engineering Technician – Senior (3162)
Salary Scale (1 August 2025): €51,279 – €73,286 with LSIs
Contract: Permanent, Whole-time
Working Hours: As per HSE standard whole-time arrangements
