Galway University Hospitals are seeking a highly experienced Senior Medical Scientist in Biochemistry to join their advanced laboratory team. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the delivery of high-quality biochemistry laboratory services
- Operate and oversee large-scale automated laboratory systems
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of diagnostic testing and reporting
- Supervise and mentor junior laboratory staff
- Maintain compliance with laboratory quality standards and accreditation requirements
- Participate in service development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Contribute to training, education, and research activities within the department
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Medical Science or equivalent
- Registration with CORU (or eligibility for registration)
- Extensive experience in Biochemistry laboratory practice
- Proven experience working in a large automated Biochemistry laboratory
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous professional development
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €68,007 – €89,790 per annum (based on experience and HSE pay scale)
Permanent Wholetime position
