Job Overview
Cork University Hospital is seeking an experienced Senior Pharmaceutical Technician (Wards & Dispensary) to join its pharmacy team on a permanent wholetime basis. This Senior Pharmaceutical Technician Cork opportunity offers a key role supporting safe and effective medicines management across wards and dispensary services.
The successful candidate will work closely with pharmacists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high standards of patient care, clinical governance, and operational efficiency within one of Ireland’s largest acute teaching hospitals.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide senior-level support in ward-based and dispensary pharmacy services.
- • Accurately prepare, dispense, and label medications in accordance with hospital policies.
- • Support stock control, procurement, and inventory management systems.
- • Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians and support staff as required.
- • Ensure compliance with medication safety standards and clinical governance requirements.
- • Assist in implementing quality improvement initiatives within the pharmacy department.
- • Maintain accurate patient and medication records in line with regulatory standards.
- • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- • Recognised qualification as a Pharmaceutical Technician.
- • Registration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).
- • Significant post-qualification experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
- • Demonstrated experience in ward-based and dispensary services.
- • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- • Commitment to continuous professional development and patient safety.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €55,425 – €61,280 per annum (Senior Pharmaceutical Technician Grade 3021 scale).
This is a Permanent Wholetime position within the HSE South West region. Standard HSE terms and conditions apply, including annual leave entitlement, public sector pension scheme, and access to ongoing professional development opportunities.
