The Senior Radiographer Sonographer Limerick role offers an excellent opportunity to join the Radiology Department at University Hospital Limerick within HSE Mid West. This permanent whole-time position is ideal for an experienced sonographer seeking to play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services in a busy acute hospital setting. The successful candidate will contribute to patient-centred care while supporting service development and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and independently report on a wide range of ultrasound examinations in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Provide specialist sonography expertise within the Radiology Department.
- Ensure high standards of patient care, safety, and dignity at all times.
- Participate in quality assurance, audit, and service improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and support junior radiography staff and students.
- Maintain accurate imaging records and comply with all relevant clinical governance requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across the hospital.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- BSc in Radiography or equivalent qualification recognised by CORU.
- Postgraduate qualification in Ultrasound/Sonography.
- Registration with CORU as a Radiographer.
- Significant post-qualification clinical experience in sonography.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a complex caseload.
- Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
