Job Overview
This fixed-term wholetime Senior House Officer post in Obstetrics & Gynaecology offers hands-on clinical experience across two key acute hospital sites: Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda and Louth County Hospital. Reporting to the Health Service Executive (HSE), the role supports delivery of high-quality maternity and gynaecology care in the Dublin & North East region.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver inpatient and outpatient obstetrics and gynaecology care under consultant supervision
• Participate in labour ward management and emergency gynaecology services
• Contribute to antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal patient management
• Perform procedures appropriate to SHO training level
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and teaching activities
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
• Participate in the hospital’s on-call rota
• Contribute to quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered with, or eligible for registration with, the Irish Medical Council
• Previous clinical experience in obstetrics & gynaecology desirable
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a fast-paced acute setting
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Commitment to continued professional development
• Ability to participate fully in the hospital on-call rota
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary (1 August 2025 HSE SHO scale): €54,203 – €74,133 per annum
