Job Overview
The Speech and Language Therapist Wexford Hospital role offers an exciting opportunity to join the multidisciplinary team at Wexford General Hospital. This Staff Grade position is part of a supplementary campaign within the HSE Dublin and South East region and is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
You will deliver high-quality, patient-centred speech and language therapy services across a diverse caseload, supporting individuals to achieve optimal communication and swallowing outcomes in an acute hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualised therapy plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in case conferences, ward rounds, and interdisciplinary meetings.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with HSE policies and professional standards.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and audit activities.
- Provide education and support to families, carers, and healthcare staff.
- Supervise and support students or junior staff where appropriate.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Registration with CORU (or eligibility for registration).
- Clinical experience relevant to a hospital-based service.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.

- Salary aligned with HSE Speech and Language Therapist (Staff Grade – 336Y) pay scale in accordance with February 2026 public sector rates.
