Sligo University Hospital is seeking applications for the position of Staff Nurse (General) as part of the Medical Supplementary Campaign (Reference: SLIGO0611). This permanent wholetime opportunity offers the chance to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality acute medical care within HSE West and North West.
This Staff Nurse General Sligo University Hospital role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and provides an excellent opportunity to develop professionally while contributing to patient-centred care in a busy medical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of evidence-based nursing care within the Medical Directorate.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised patient care programmes.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HSE policies and professional standards.
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support and supervise junior staff and student nurses where appropriate.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and mandatory training programmes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Eligible to work in Ireland.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in an acute hospital setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Previous experience in a medical ward setting is desirable.
