The Staff Nurse Medical Surgical Galway role at Galway University Hospitals offers an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic acute hospital environment within HSE West and North West. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to medical and surgical patients.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised patient care programmes.
- Monitor patient progress and respond appropriately to clinical changes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care delivery.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HSE policies.
- Promote infection prevention and control standards at all times.
- Support patient education and discharge planning processes.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or eligibility to be registered.
- Experience in medical and/or surgical nursing in an acute setting (desirable).
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
This role offers competitive pay in line with HSE salary scales for Staff Nurse – General (2135) and Enhanced Nurse (General) (2283).
Contract types available include Permanent Part-time, Permanent Wholetime, Specified Purpose Part-time, and Specified Purpose Wholetime.
