The Health Service Executive is recruiting a Theatre Operative for its Surgical Hub in Dublin North. This permanent, wholetime role supports critical perioperative workflows and patient care within a busy surgical environment. Candidates with Operating Department Care Skills and theatre experience are especially encouraged to apply.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation of operating theatres and perioperative areas
• Support surgical teams with the safe movement and positioning of patients
• Manage surgical instruments, equipment and supplies according to protocol
• Maintain theatre cleanliness, hygiene standards and infection-prevention practices
• Ensure efficient turnaround between cases and effective stock management
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members
• Uphold all HSE patient safety, privacy and clinical governance requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
• FETAC Level 5 – Operating Department Care Skills Module (mandatory)
• Experience or special interest in a perioperative/operating theatre environment
• Strong understanding of theatre safety, infection control and manual-handling practices
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced acute setting
• Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills

Contract: Permanent Wholetime
Annual Salary Scale (1 August 2025):
€41,117 – €48,064 (7 points)
