Job Overview
The Supported Training Services within Carlow Mental Health Service is seeking a dedicated Workshop Supervisor / Instructor Level 2 to join its multidisciplinary team at St Dympna’s Hospital, Carlow. This permanent part-time role (0.8 WTE) focuses on empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges through structured training, supervision, and skill development. Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and supervise structured training programmes for service users in centre-based and community settings.
- Support individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health difficulties to achieve personal and vocational goals.
- Implement positive behaviour support strategies in line with best practice standards.
- Plan and deliver engaging activities in horticulture and creative arts, including drama and music-based initiatives.
- Promote independence, confidence, and social inclusion among service users.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and progress documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and external stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in facilitation, training, and supervision of individuals with disabilities in centre-based and/or community settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in positive behaviour support approaches.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and/or mental health challenges.
- Practical experience in horticulture and creative arts such as drama or music therapy.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
The salary scale for this position ranges from €50,945 to €53,614 per annum (pro-rata), in line with the Community Access Facilitator (Grade 6425) pay scale. This is a permanent part-time role working 0.8 Whole Time Equivalent (WTE).
