The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) is seeking an experienced General Manager to provide senior leadership within Ireland’s national health protection and surveillance system. This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for governance, strategy, and operational delivery in a nationally significant organisation.
Table of Contents
The successful candidate will work closely with the Clinical Lead and senior stakeholders, ensuring HPSC continues to deliver evidence-based surveillance, research, and guidance that protects public health across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for HPSC services
• Support the Clinical Lead in delivering national health protection priorities
• Lead governance, risk management, and compliance with HSE frameworks
• Manage budgets, resources, and workforce planning effectively
• Oversee performance management and continuous service improvement
• Represent HPSC at national and international forums as required
• Ensure high standards of accountability, transparency, and public value
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Significant senior management experience at organisational or national level
• Proven leadership within healthcare, public service, or complex organisations
• Strong governance, financial management, and strategic planning expertise
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex programmes
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
• Desirable: experience within public health or health systems environments
