An excellent opportunity is available for a General Medicine Registrar to join the General Medicine service at Mayo University Hospital from July 2026. This role offers broad clinical exposure within a busy acute hospital, supporting high-quality patient care across General Internal Medicine services in the HSE West and North West region.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care in General Medicine
• Participate in acute medical admissions and on-call rotas
• Work collaboratively with Consultants and multidisciplinary teams
• Supervise and support junior medical staff
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and discharge summaries
• Contribute to audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance
• Adhere to HSE policies, patient safety, and infection control standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Active registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) at time of application
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in General Internal Medicine
• Valid English language certification (IELTS or OET) where applicable
• BLS and ACLS certification
• MRCP or MRCPI examinations are desirable
Important Eligibility Note:
Doctors who have completed the International Medical Graduate Training Initiative (Pakistan & Sudan) must have returned to their home country for a minimum of 12 months immediately following programme completion to be eligible.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary in line with HSE Registrar (1538) salary scale, €68,891 – €81,126 per annum (subject to point of entry)
• Additional on-call and premium payments as applicable
• Access to HSE pension scheme and annual leave entitlements
• Structured postgraduate training and professional development
• Full-time, wholetime contract with participation in on-call rota
(Salary scales in accordance with Department of Health Consolidated Pay Scales effective 1 August 2025)
