General Practitioner – Primary Care Addiction Service (Louth)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a General Practitioner to join the Primary Care Addiction Service in Louth and Meath. This permanent part-time role offers the chance to deliver specialist, patient-centred care to individuals experiencing addiction within a multidisciplinary primary care setting. Mentoring support from the Clinical Lead is available where required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical assessment and treatment for patients attending the Primary Care Addiction Service
• Deliver evidence-based addiction treatment in a therapeutic and recovery-focused manner
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, counselling, and social care professionals
• Participate in care planning, clinical reviews, and ongoing patient monitoring
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HSE policies
• Support harm reduction and health promotion initiatives within the service
• Engage in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activities

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registration with the Medical Council of Ireland at the appropriate division
• Eligibility to work as a General Practitioner in Ireland
• Experience working in a therapeutic capacity in addiction services is desirable
• Demonstrated English language competency via IELTS, Cambridge CAE, or approved exemption
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to patient-centred and ethical clinical practice

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Salary: In line with HSE General Practitioner Grade 152X consolidated pay scales
• Contract: Permanent, part-time

• Structured mentoring available by the Clinical Lead where required
